We had some great news recently! Andrey and I were accepted to present a talk (together) at Devoxx Belgium in October. I love Devoxx - it’s a big, Java-and-other-technologies conference in Antwep. The audience is very developer focused and everyone (including the speakers) is there to learn something and meet people.
We’re going to be talking about Why Java Is Perfect for AI - Just Not the AI You’re Thinking Of. We’re only three posts into our brand new substack and already this is probably not a surprise to our readers. Andrey and I have talked a bunch about how there’s so much noise around AI, and yet professional Java developers, particularly those in enterprises, might be feeling left out, left behind, or somewhat sidelined. And yet we think these folks are some of the most important people in the whole industry, and we want to talk to them about how all the good, solid software engineering skills that they’ve been developing and honing for years are exactly the skills that are relevant right now.
Also we’ll be talking about why Java, specifically - it’s not trendy to talk about Java and AI in the same sentence, unless you’re talking about generating code, but there’s so much more to modern software development in Java these days.
Anyway, if you’re interested, come and see us present. Not all the rooms are recorded, so if you’re particularly keen to see the talk, you really need to be there - we’re not going to get many opportunities to present together on this topic.
